What are Clear Aligners?

How do Clear Aligners work?
- Clear aligners are designed as a set of 2 aligners, one each for the upper and lower teeth.

Digital Scan
During your first visit, we will evaluate your teeth and discuss your treatment goals. If clear aligners are suitable for you, we will do a digital scan of your teeth with a scanner and show you an approximate simulation of how your teeth are going to look after the clear aligner treatment.
Virtual Plan Discussion
Using all the diagnostic records and the digital scan, we will create a customised virtual simulation of your teeth based on the treatment plan that has been devised for you. This virtual simulation is discussed and explained to the patient which enables the patient to understand and better visualise the correction that has been planned with the clear aligner treatment.
Clear Aligners Delivery
Within 3-4 weeks after the virtual plan discussion, your aligners will be ready. At this appointment, we will deliver your aligners and give you all the detailed instructions about wearing and caring for your aligners.
Regular Follow-Up Appointments
We will schedule your follow-up appointments once every 6-8 weeks to track the fit of your aligners and to monitor your treatment progress. These visits are typically less frequent than with traditional braces
Treatment Completion
The day has arrived and your dream smile is here! We will plan a retention protocol for you to help you maintain and retain your smile for a long time. Depending upon the case, we will plan removable or fixed retainers for you.
Caring for Clear Aligners
Wearing the Aligners
Aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours a day. They should be removed only for eating, drinking (anything other than water), brushing, and flossing.
Cleaning the Aligners
The two times that you brush your teeth are the two times that you should clean your aligners using a soft toothbrush and mild soap. You can use specialized aligner cleansing tablets to keep your aligners clean and clear.
Maintaining Good Oral Hygiene
Brushing your teeth twice a day is very important. Every time you remove your aligners to eat or drink any beverage, it is advisable to gargle and rinse your mouth thoroughly to remove any food particles and plaque before reinserting your aligners.
