Braces are fixed to the patient’s teeth and are continuosly exerting the forces needed to straighten the teeth. Patient’s compliance is not required to ensure treatment progress since the patient can not remove the braces on their own.

Aligners are removable and must be worn for 20-22 hrs a day to be effective in causing the desired tooth movement. This requires a high level of commitment and compliance from the patient. Failing to wear the aligners as prescribed can prolong the treatment time and adversely affect the treatment outcome. |

Patients with traditional braces are more prone to emergency visits due to broken brackets or poking wires.

Patients with aligners are less likely to require emergency visits due to their comfortable and removable design. |
